A national poll in early July showed 14% of voters would be very likely to support the America Party, while 26% said they would be somewhat likely.
Still, problems continue to surface. Musk is reportedly courting eccentric political advisors, including Curtis Yarvin, a far-right tech blogger who has argued that American democracy has run its course and should be replaced by a CEO-style dictatorship.
But perhaps the biggest problem facing the America Party is uniquely personal to Musk: a large portion of the public simply doesn’t like him.
A recent survey found that 60% of Americans have an unfavorable view of Musk, while only 32% view him favorably.
Musk boldly declared that America will have a third party.
But the real question is: Does America want this kind of third party—with this kind of agenda—led by a man like Elon Musk?
