KLIK SAJA - The Czech Republic will take on hosts Mexico at Estadio Banorte on Thursday in the final Group A fixture of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Narodak were held to a draw by South Africa in their previous outing, while Mexico secured their second victory of the tournament with a hard-fought win over South Korea.

With just one point from their opening two matches, the Czech Republic must claim all three points if they are to keep their World Cup dream alive and advance to the knockout stages.

Despite taking the lead just after the hour mark, Narodak conceded twice within 13 minutes and also had a goal ruled out for offside as they began their campaign with a disappointing defeat to South Korea at Estadio Akron.

That setback was followed by a draw against South Africa on Thursday evening. Miroslav Koubek’s side once again found themselves ahead, only to surrender more points after Teboho Mokoena converted a late penalty to level the score.

Although they currently sit third in Group A, it is highly unlikely that anything less than a victory will be enough to send the Czech Republic into the knockout rounds. As a result, they face the daunting challenge of overcoming a flawless Mexican side on home soil at Estadio Banorte.

However, the task is far from impossible. Narodak defeated El Tri 2-1 in the only previous meeting between the two nations, a match played 26 years ago.

Mexico, meanwhile, have enjoyed a near-perfect start to their 2026 World Cup campaign. They sit atop Group A with six points, three goals scored, and none conceded.

In their opening match, El Tri welcomed South Africa to Estadio Banorte. In a fiery encounter that featured three red cards, Javier Aguirre’s men emerged as 2-0 winners thanks to goals from Julian Quinones and Raul Jimenez.

They followed that performance with another impressive display against South Korea. Mexico successfully weathered the relentless pressure of the Taegeuk Warriors to grind out a 1-0 victory and maintain their perfect record heading into the final group-stage match.

The win over Hong Myung-bo’s side moved Mexico three points clear at the top of the standings and secured their place in the knockout rounds—a stage where they have not won a World Cup match in four decades.

Although Mexico are strong favorites to finish as Group A winners, Aguirre’s men still need to avoid defeat on Thursday to officially secure top spot and earn a potentially more favorable Round of 32 matchup.

Team News and Prediction

The Czech Republic will be without defender David Jurasek for the remainder of the tournament after he suffered a serious thigh injury during training earlier this month. He is expected to return to action at the end of July.
