KLIK SAJA - Iran has officially called on the United Nations Security Council to convene an emergency session following a recent U.S. military strike on its territory.

The appeal was submitted in a formal letter by Iran's Ambassador to the UN, Amir Saeid Iravani, who described the attack as “heinous, illegal, and unjustifiable under international law.”

In the letter, Iravani emphasized that the U.S. action constituted a grave violation of Iran’s sovereignty and the fundamental principles of international law.

He urged the Security Council to take immediate and decisive measures, including holding the United States accountable in accordance with the UN Charter and international legal standards.

Iran views the strike as a calculated provocation, closely linked to prior Israeli aggression—particularly the June 13 assault targeting Iranian nuclear facilities, which Iran insists are peaceful and civilian in nature.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also condemned the attack, labeling it a clear breach of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and the UN Charter.

“The United States, as a permanent member of the Security Council, has blatantly violated the very international norms it is supposed to uphold,” Araghchi stated firmly.

Iran stressed that the targeted facilities are part of its civilian nuclear program and not related to weapons development.

To date, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has found no evidence of military nuclear activity at the sites in question, reinforcing Iran’s position that its nuclear infrastructure operates under international oversight.

Beyond legal concerns, the attack has also sparked environmental fears.

Striking nuclear facilities raises the risk of radioactive leakage, posing serious threats to public health and ecosystems—especially in densely populated areas.

Iran warned that such aggression not only breaches sovereignty but also sets a dangerous precedent: legitimizing the use of force against peaceful installations.

Tehran called on the UN not to remain silent in the face of this violation.

It further warned that should the Security Council fail to act, Iran would not hesitate to take additional steps to safeguard its national sovereignty and interests.
