KLIK SAJA - Son Heung-min has officially agreed to a contract with Los Angeles FC, marking his high-profile move to Major League Soccer (MLS) after a decade-long, legendary spell at Tottenham Hotspur.

The 33-year-old South Korean forward finalized his deal just three days after publicly announcing his departure from Spurs.

Son was spotted on Tuesday night at BMO Stadium, attending LAFC’s Leagues Cup match against Tigres from a VIP suite, igniting fan excitement with his surprise appearance.

Though his official unveiling is set for Wednesday at a press conference, LAFC didn’t wait to build the hype — Son was featured on the stadium’s big screen during the first half, receiving thunderous applause from fans thrilled to welcome the club’s newest superstar.

A powerhouse in just its eighth season, LAFC reportedly paid over $20 million in transfer fees — potentially setting a new record for the highest MLS signing ever.

Son leaves behind a legacy for The Lilywhites, where he scored 173 goals in 454 official appearances.

Renowned globally for his blistering pace, creative playmaking, and lethal finishing, Son became one of the most beloved figures in Spurs history.

He received an emotional farewell in Seoul last week during Tottenham’s exhibition match against Newcastle, where both teams honored him with a guard of honour. Son left the pitch in tears, as nearly 65,000 fans gave him a roaring send-off.

Widely considered the most popular athlete in South Korea — and arguably the greatest Asian footballer of all time — Son has now chosen Los Angeles as the next stage for his remarkable career.

Los Angeles is home to the largest Korean population outside of Korea, with its vibrant Koreatown just a few kilometers from LAFC’s BMO Stadium.

The club is hoping to market Son similarly to how the Dodgers have with Shohei Ohtani — the Japanese MLB superstar and three-time MVP who has become a global sensation and a magnet for fans and sponsors.

Son’s move to California also positions him for major influence ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted across North America.

As captain of South Korea’s national team, Son has already committed to playing in his fourth World Cup.

Having just led Tottenham to a historic Europa League title — their first European trophy in decades — Son now jumps straight into LAFC’s MLS Cup campaign. LAFC currently sits sixth in the Western Conference with a 10-6-6 record and games in hand due to their participation in the Club World Cup.
