KLIK SAJA - President Donald Trump’s administration has deployed thousands of additional troops to Los Angeles on the fourth day of chaotic protests over immigration raids.

The demonstrations have since spread to other major cities across the United States.

Approximately 700 U.S. Marines have been dispatched to the Los Angeles area, while the number of National Guard troops mobilized to contain the unrest has been doubled to 4,000.

Many view Trump’s actions as dictatorial, given how rare it is for a U.S. president to take such measures.

California Governor Gavin Newsom called the move “the deranged fantasy of a dictatorial president.”

The state of California has filed a lawsuit against President Trump for deploying troops without the governor’s authorization.

It is extremely rare for the military to play a role in domestic law enforcement in the United States.

At least four Mexican nationals detained in LA since Friday have already been deported back to Mexico, according to a statement from Mexico’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday (June 10).

This conflict marks the first time since 1965 that a U.S. president has sent National Guard troops to a city without the governor’s consent.

Previously, U.S. Marines have only been deployed domestically in response to major disasters, such as Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and the September 11, 2001 attacks.

As of now, the Trump administration has not invoked the Insurrection Act, which would authorize federal troops to engage directly in civilian law enforcement.

On Tuesday morning, Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman stated that the additional troops were unnecessary.

According to Hochman, only a small portion of LA residents were involved in the protests, and even fewer had broken the law.

However, he acknowledged several criminal acts, including the torching of Waymo self-driving cars, stone-throwing at police officers, and the vandalism of buildings.
