Many pundits regard them as one of the tournament's most dangerous dark horses.

Interestingly, Morocco's first three World Cup appearances came in Mexico (1970 and 1986) and the United States (1994), two of the three host nations for this year's competition.

The Atlas Lions exited in the group stage on their debut, reached the Round of 16 in impressive fashion in 1986, and endured a disappointing campaign with three defeats in the United States in 1994.

In recent years, Morocco have emerged as one of world football's fastest-rising powers.

Since the beginning of 2023, they have recorded 33 victories, 10 draws, and just two defeats in 45 matches.

They currently sit seventh in the FIFA rankings, ahead of traditional European heavyweights such as the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany.

Much of the credit belongs to Walid Regragui, who oversaw Morocco's remarkable rise. Under his guidance, the Atlas Lions cruised through CAF World Cup qualifying by winning all eight of their matches.

They were also controversially awarded the Africa Cup of Nations title earlier this year after Senegal were stripped of the championship following a chaotic final.

However, Regragui stepped down less than 100 days before the World Cup began. He was replaced by former Under-23 coach Mohamed Ouahbi, who has enjoyed a promising start with three wins and two draws from his first five matches in charge.

Morocco's most recent outing ended in a 1-1 draw against Norway last weekend.

The Atlas Lions are aiming to progress beyond the group stage in consecutive World Cups for the first time in their history.

Although they have lost two of their previous three meetings with Brazil, they claimed a memorable 2-1 victory in their most recent encounter, a friendly played in March 2023.

Team News and Predicted Lineups

Brazil's all-time leading goalscorer Neymar is still recovering from a Grade 2 calf injury and is not expected to be available for this match.

Meanwhile, right-back Wesley has been ruled out of the entire tournament after suffering a muscle injury during Brazil's recent friendly against Egypt.
