General Manager (GM) of Pelindo Regional 4 Makassar, Suhadi Hamid said, both the central and regional governments really expect a change or transformation at Paotere Port.
There are several reasons why his party carried out the transformation at Paotere Port. Namely to minimize credit and security conditions at Paotere Port.
"Especially for related agencies in the Paotere Port area, the treatment will be the same as at Soekarno Port which will be registered and submitted in writing to Pelindo to get a card as access to enter the Paotere Port area," he explained.
Some time ago, his party held discussions regarding Paotere Port with the Makassar City Government, in this case the Mayor of Makassar, Moh. Ramdhan (Danny) Pomanto.
"Results of discussions with the Mayor regarding tourist destinations, it is hoped that in the future Paotere Port will be the same as Sunda Kelapa Harbor. Where from 31 May to 2 June 2023, the shooting process for a documentary about culture and education by Arte 360' from Germany was carried out, regarding the construction of Phinisi Ships and wooden ships in South Sulawesi starting from Tanah Beru in Bulukumba to Makassar Paotere Harbor.”
In addition, there will also be photo spots and miniatures with Phinisi nuances or backgrounds, so that they have their own charm, especially for tourists.
Pelindo Regional 4 Makassar will improve Paotere Port starting from tenants, to local wisdom in order to empower Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
"It is hoped that with the Electronic Pass (E-Pass) Gate System at Paotere Port, it will be able to sterilize it at the entrance."
"Pelindo expects support and support from related agencies and the community because without support, Pelindo will not be successful," he said.
The Head of the Paotere Area Unit, Hadriana Hasan added, currently Paotere Port is starting to attract investors and using the E-Pass is one of their [investors'] requirements to enter into investing in the Paotere Port area.
"We are also reorganizing the Paotere Port area which is visited by quite a lot of foreign tourists. Because apart from being a port area that connects the small islands in South Sulawesi and other islands in eastern Indonesia, Paotere Harbor is also a tourist location because it is the oldest people's port in South Sulawesi. The plan is to get investors to take part in managing Paotere Port, where one of the conditions is that the E-Pass is operational," he said.
"Hopefully all the efforts and improvements that we have made in the Paotere Port area will receive the support of all parties, especially port stakeholders and service users and of course the surrounding community," concluded Hadriana. ****
