KLIK SAJA - Aiming to secure their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 32 with a game to spare, France will take on Iraq in their second Group I fixture in Philadelphia on Monday evening.

Les Bleus successfully navigated a tricky opening test, defeating Senegal 3-1 in their tournament opener.

Meanwhile, Iraq suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat to Norway, making France overwhelming favorites heading into this encounter.

The world's biggest stars have already made their mark in the early stages of the tournament, and France talisman Kylian Mbappe once again etched his name into football history.

Alongside Bradley Barcola's superb strike and Ibrahim Mbaye's consolation goal for Senegal, Mbappe became the all-time leading scorer for the French men's national team, surpassing Olivier Giroud's record.

He also overtook Just Fontaine as France's highest goalscorer in World Cup history.

Despite reports claiming that nearly 100 million fans signed an online petition calling for his departure from Real Madrid, the 27-year-old remains the focal point of Didier Deschamps' side.

France now need just one more victory to secure early qualification for the knockout stages.

France currently sit second in Group I after Norway recorded a more convincing win over Iraq. However, Deschamps' men have now gone six consecutive matches without keeping a clean sheet following Mbaye's late goal for Senegal.

That defensive concern has been largely overshadowed by France's attacking firepower. Les Bleus have now scored in 14 consecutive matches and have netted at least twice in 13 of those games.

France's attacking quality will pose a major threat to an Iraq side that conceded four goals against an Erling Haaland-inspired Norway in their opening match.

Nevertheless, Iraq head coach Graham Arnold remained optimistic after the final whistle.

The former Australia manager, who saw his side level the score through Aymen Hussein, praised his team's performance for much of the match before a series of costly individual errors allowed Norway to pull away.

Currently sitting fourth in Group I, the Lions of Mesopotamia still have a mathematical chance of reaching the Round of 32.
